Procedure

To a secondary vessel, add phase A and start mixing. Add phase B and heat to 75°C. Add phase C with mixing. To the main vessel, add the water and glycerin of phase D and start mixing. Add the chelant, then the thickeners. Continue stirring until fully incorporated and heat to 75°C. When the contents of both vessels are homogeneous and at 75°C, slowly add oil phase ABC to water phase D with prop mixing. Mix for 2 minutes, then homogenize for 3 minutes. Resume prop mixing and start cooling. Add phase E when batch is below 50°C. Continue mixing until batch is at room temperature. Replace any water lost to evaporation and mix until smooth.

Properties

(25°C): Appear.—White thick lotion; Viscosity—4000–7000 (20 rpm, Brk, RVDV-II, SP 4, after 24h at room temperature, mPa∙s); pH—5.0–6.0.
